Interests, Voluntary Work & Extra Curricular Activities
My main interest is sport, in particular football, cricket, Formula 1 motor racing and squash. Since the age of five, I’ve had a season ticket for Chelsea FC and have followed the Blues home and away ever since, including to the Champions League Final in Moscow which was an amazing experience. Over the past nine seasons, I’ve also followed my local non-league side Carshalton Athletic and in many respects I now prefer the amateur game to watching some of the best players in the world. As well as watching football, I am also passionate about playing the game. I currently captain Dorking Ladies and previously have captained Horley Town Ladies Reserves for two seasons, in the second of which we gained promotion. In that same season I was awarded with the Manager’s Player of the Year at the end of season awards. The following season I became a permanent fixture in the first team, winning the club’s Most Improved Player award. I have since played for AFC Bournemouth Ladies and Bournemouth University. Additionally, I am a qualified Level 1 football coach and aim to complete my Level 2 award in the near future, with a view to coaching in America.

Aside from watching and playing sport, I also love writing about it. I carried out work experience with the Non-League newspaper in 2006, where I wrote articles and conducted interviews. Since then I have continued to have work published with them, reporting on Carshalton Athletic matches throughout the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons. During both those seasons, I also became the Assistant Editor of Carshalton’s matchday programme, where again I wrote articles, conducted interviews, took action photographs and assisted with the layout and editing. Since, I have carried this passion through to degree level and have started my own sports blog at http://sportingbehaviour.blogspot.com/, as well as freelancing for organisations such as Betfair.

Travelling is another of my interests. Recently, I have visited Poland, Crete and Russia and will add America to my list later this year. While still at school, I completed the Duke of Edinburgh award at levels Bronze and Silver and whilst it was a good experience, I never want to see the Yorkshire Dales again!
